Girls Rock Dallas' Spring Fling Has Real Punk Attitude

This year's Girls Rock Dallas' annual Spring Fling festival will be held on Sunday at Sue Ellen's bar in Oak Lawn. Although recently listed as one of the "Douchiest Bars in Dallas" by some local blog, this venue offers the perfect environment to channel a metal feel with a less chauvinistic touch.

Now, There's a Writer for the Small-Screen Dallas Do-Over. Ewing Excited Yet?

We're probably a long ways off from finding out if TNT and Warner Bros. TV plan on shooting their small-screen Dallas remake in Dallas. Which hasn't stopped me from leaving messages all morning for Janis Burklund, head of the Dallas Film Commission, to see if she knows what's what on the heels of ... More >>

Sue Ellen's Is Closing...So It Can Move

What? Wrong Sue Ellen? It seems to have been fairly quiet over in the Cedar Springs strip since we mentioned their apparent identity crisis. But our buddy Rick Espaillat over at Caven just gave us the heads about our favorite lesbian bar, Sue Ellen’s. (Don’t worry, Buddies II, we love you, too. ... More >>

    Identity Crisis in Cedar Springs

Last week, we mentioned a slight rumor abuzz that legendary lesbian nightspot Sue Ellen's was getting an upgrade. Caven Enterprises announced today that that's pretty much official. J.R's Bringing Live Music to Cedar Springs

Cedar Springs isn’t quite the mecca for live music that Deep Ellum and Lower Greenville are, but J.R.’s Bar and Grill is making an attempt to change that just a bit. The strip of gay clubs will probably always be the go-to spot for dance music, drag shows and some pretty worthwhile karaoke but J ... More >>

J.R.'s Not Dead. He's Just Resting.

I've always wanted to write a book. Maybe there's one in the making--or, rather, the unmaking--of the movie version of Dallas. God knows it'll be better than the film. When it happens. If it happens. Please, sweet baby James, don't ever let it happen. The not happening is so much better. In case you ... More >>
