Let's be honest, not all fried cheese is good fried cheese
Chain restaurant versions of the stuff usually leave us wanting more. How many times have we ordered a cheese stick appetizer only to be disappointed by bland mozzarella and/or lousy breading. Come on, battering and frying cheese isn't rocket science or molecular cooking. But the good folks at The Porch understand our frustration, and that's why they offer the best fried cheese we've crammed in our faces. The foundation of this fried cheese delight is thick, triangular pieces of Port Salut, a tangy yet mild French cheese that melts as well as that boring mozzarella. Then there's the glorious tempura-style batter they use to cover those bad boys. The result is a collection of light yet crisp cheesy goodness that puts mozzarella to shame.
