Last week a reader tipped us off that Kozy Kitchen, the casual restaurant on McKinney Avenue with a penchant for local ingredients, would be opening a second location. This week chef and owner Nick Nicholas Pavageaux confirmed the new restaurant, saying he held a soft opening last Wednesday and is now open for business.

The new Kozy Kitchen takes over the old Goghee To Go spot, which is buried under what seems like endless LBJ Freeway construction. The spot seems like a hard location to draw in customers, but the neighborhood could use some more casual scratch cooking.

While the new location will offer the same menu as the original, the hours have been compressed. They'll serve breakfast and lunch through the work week, but will be closed on nights and weekends.

Kozy Kitchen, 4895 LBJ Freeway, 7 a.m.-3 p.m, Monday-Friday, kozy2day.com
