What a week in food, with celebrity interviews, a ton of pizza and a popular blogger take down.
This week I reviewed Dough Pizzeria Napoletana. I noted that most diners seemed to be enjoying their meals but couldn't find a VPN certificate hanging on the walls. It turned out that they weren't certified at all, despite their efforts to make it seem otherwise.
Elsewhere on City of Ate, I interviewed Anthony Bourdain before his appearance at the Majestic Theater. He may be a whore, but he's entertaining for sure. I also proclaimed eggs with runny yolks the greatest pizza topping of all time, and pointed out our favorite Dallas pies. Meanwhile, Food Bitch illuminated the worst pizza topping of all time: St Louis.
D Magazine got dirty. In their story "The Insatiable Steven Doyle," they spent seven hours drinking and driving with the super blogger in an all out take-down. It's pretty nasty.
On Dish, Nancy Nichols gushed over Mesa, calling the meal an "an uplifting experience" and confirming the Reyes family is still kicking ass in Oak Cliff.
Elsewhere, on the Taco Trail, Jose got all nostalgic for his homeland at Taco Ocho. They've added a new torta, inspired by a sandwich found in Puerto Rico.
And Pegasus posted a really good interview with Scott Gottlich, the chef of Bijoux, that examined how they provide a consistent, quality dining experience over time. "They work, communicate and execute as a team, and they do it well," according to Pegusus.
Here's hoping the Rangers follow suit.
