It’s pretty clear that the Dallas Cowboys season is going to be a real stinker, but that doesn’t mean most of us won't keep watching them play. We're just going to suffer. Luckily, CBD Provisions is providing some pretty swank eating options to help you forget what's happening on the flat screen at your next wake football party.

They're going to start offering their famous pig's head carnitas for pick-up on Sundays before the game. In addition to the roasted half Berkshire pig’s head, your football care package will include two different types of salsa, house-made guacamole, fresh veggies, and best of all, CBD Provisions’ pillowy flour tortillas. Add a couple of bags of tortilla chips and plenty of beer (harder liquor if you’re watching the Cowboys), and you’ve got a spread that will feed everyone in your crowd pretty damn impressively.

What doesn’t make sense, though, is the pick-up time. The pig heads can be ordered Monday through Saturday, but they can only be picked up between 2 and 5 p.m. on Sunday. What happens if your team is playing the 3 p.m. game? How will you pre-party and make it all the way downtown to retrieve that delicious, melt-in-your-mouth meat? Perhaps even worse, it won’t even be available on Saturdays, when the only decent teams in DFW (TCU is really the only one, unless you count Baylor and we don’t) will be playing.

At just $65, this is one tailgating package that actually makes some financial sense. Between four and six people can dine on the pig’s head comfortably, even more so if they’re filling up their bellies with beer. At the restaurant, the pig head carnitas are just a few bucks cheaper, and you won’t even have to wait for a table.

If the limited provisions at the restaurant are any indication, you’re going to want to get those orders in early. Dallasites love their pig heads, and that’s probably even more true when combined with their greatest love: pigskin. Serve chiccharones and bacon and you’ve got a perfectly porcine tailgate from a fancy restaurant that won’t bust your budget.

This pick-up special will be offered at CBD Provisions through next February, ending on Super Bowl Sunday. Packages are available for order now, and you can reserve your very own pig’s head by calling the restaurant. Start plotting who you’re going to drunkenly convince to eat the eye.
