Today, from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m., Dallas Grilled Cheese Co. is offering their Classic Grilled Cheese sandwich for $1. Here's the address: 310 W. 7th St. That's all you really need to know, but I wrote more words if you'd rather read about food than jam it in your face immediately. (Please know that if it were me reading this and not writing this, I'd be out the door and pounding cheese already. You and I are different.)

In addition to the $1 grilled cheeses, there will also be $1 Deep Ellum Brewing Co. beers. (If I had anyone still reading, I'm presuming I've now lost you all to the sounds of cars starting, squealing tires and you yelling, "HOLD THE HELL ON, MARGE!" to your wife, Marge.)

Assuming you're now all on your way to cheap food and beer, I'd like to spend the rest of my words typing in the lyrics to Matchbox Twenty's 3 a.m. I think you'll find that if you read them, you'll understand a truer, deeper meaning than you ever did when you were just jamming in your car in the '90s.

"3 A.M."

She said it's cold outside and she hands me my raincoat
She's always worried about things like that
She said it's all gonna end and it might as well be my fault
And she only sleeps when it's raining
And she screams and her voice is strained
And

[Chorus:]
She says baby
It's 3 a.m. I must be lonely
When she says baby
Well I can't help but be scared of it all sometimes
The rain's gonna wash away I believe it

She's got a little bit of something, God it's better than nothing
And in her color portrait world she believes that she's got it all
She swears the moon don't hang quite as high as it used to
And she only sleeps when it's raining
And she screams and her voice is strained...
And

[Chorus:]
She says baby
It's 3 a.m. I must be lonely
Well heaven she says baby
Well I can't help but be scared of it all sometimes
Says the rain's gonna wash away I believe it

She believes that life is made up of all that you're used to
And the clock on the wall has been stuck at three for days, and days
(HOLY SHIT SHE SAYS SHE'S LONELY WHEN IT'S 3, BUT IT'S ALWAYS 3!! SHE IS ALWAYS LONELY THIS IS SO SAD POP MUSIC IS DEEP)
She thinks that happiness is a mat that sits on her doorway
But outside it's stopped raining

[Chorus:]
She says baby
It's 3 a.m. I must be lonely
(IT JUST HITS SO MUCH HARDER NOW.)
Well heaven she says baby
Well I can't help but be scared of it all sometimes
Says the rain's gonna wash away I believe it

Well it's 3 a.m. I must be lonely
Well heaven she says baby
Well I can't help but be scared of it all sometimes
(UGH FADE TO TEARS-ON-FACE CRYING FOR ALL THE FOREVERS)

Still want to read stuff? Fine. Here's the press release from Dallas Grilled Cheese Co., which explains in further detail what the words "$1 Classic Grilled Cheese Night" and "$1 Deep Ellum Draughts" don't fully bring to life:
Dairy Cattle;

Next Tuesday, January the 19th, will mark Dallas Grilled Cheese Co.’s one-year Cheesiversary, and we know the past year has been a difficult one for you.

In fact, we knew by last July, our six-month mark, at which point we’d already served up more than enough orders to feed every man, woman and child residing in Partner/Creative Director Mack Simpson’s hometown (Texarkana, TX, population 37,442 —  SALUTE!), that you’d probably be a little grumpy with us.

We mean, seriously. That’s a lot of cheese.

Sure, sure, not every order over the past year has been totally cheese-based; we have lovely desserts, 23 taps with local beers and a surprisingly deep wine and specialty cocktail list — and we’re absolutely certain you, being herbivorous, would appreciate one of our lovely salads. But really, both you and we know that, being a restaurant with 17 delicious, gooey, grilled cheese sandwiches on the menu — and weekly, off-menu creative excursions into grilled cheese flights of fancy — to make no mention of our many tempting, cheese-laden appetizers and soups, the burden really fell to you and your udders.

So we’re going to throw a party in your honor on Tuesday, January the 19th; a party filled with $1 Deep Ellum Brewing draughts (those taps!) and $1 Classic Grilled Cheese Sandwiches (for dine-in only, sorry about that), from the time we open at 11:00AM until we close at 10:00PM.

So please join Partners Diana Ezzell, Glenn Shank (both of whom are natives of Oak Cliff), Matthew Davis (Dallas Grilled Cheese Co.’s General Manager) and Mack Simpson (Creative Director) at 310 W. Davis Street, Dallas, TX 75208.

They’ll find a spot for you. Maybe on the patio, if the weather’s nice.

You can also find Dallas Grilled Cheese Co. on the Internet at dallasgrilledcheese.co or by calling (214) 944-5515, though typing or dialing with hooves might be problematic.

We’re located in Dallas’ wonderful, historic Bishop Arts District and we’re certain you’ll enjoy your visit and perhaps give us a little forbearance as we enter our second year of operation.

We respect you. We really do.

Sincerely,

Dallas Grilled Cheese Co.
