This is something you're most certainly going to want to clear your schedule for. Garrison Brothers Distillery founder Dan Garrison is holding a bourbon seminar at Sigel's Elite at 3209 Fitzhugh next Wednesday, September 18, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Garrison Brothers is a small distillery on a ranch in Hye, Texas, west of Austin. They make straight Texas Bourbon Whiskey and all that that implies. Every ingredient, from the Panhandle corn to the winter wheat, are procured in state and Garrison refuses to sell his award-winning bourbon anywhere but in Texas.
Garrison will cover the proper way to nose your glass, the difference between varieties of whiskey, some low-end science stuff and, who knows, maybe he'll get toasty and spin yarns about his moon-shining days. Certainly that's part of the curriculum.
The good news is the seminar is only $20 per person (includes a distillery swag-bar and appetizers).
Here's the one bit of bad news: there are only 20 seats. I already RSVP'd, so, 19.
On your mark, get set, drink.
