Five Dallas Bars and Restaurants That Will Help Keep the Super Bowl from Sucking

The Super Bowl is coming, and there's a good chance that the house party you've been invited to is going to suck. There's only so much buffalo chicken dip a person can handle, not to mention the fact that house parties have an tendency for kicked kegs halfway through the third quarter. This cannot stand.

The problem is that most sports bars aren't much better. Many have a way of offering food and drink specials that are anything but special, like that all-you-can-eat offer that features an aluminum tray filled with cold chicken wings, or the deal on pitchers aimed at working through a month-old Miller Lite keg.

The Super Bowl only comes once a year, and it's your duty to treat the event like the special holiday it is. Here are five bars and restaurants that will have TVs featuring the big game, and that should be significantly more fun than hanging out at your neighbor's place with a bowl of salsa and the sads.

Lockhart Smokehouse (pictured above) You should be so lucky to celebrate Super Bowl Sunday at Lockhart Smokehouse. Actually, all you have to do is show up. To mark the occasion they're celebrating with Rib Day: beef, baby-back and spare ribs plus shiner jug and pint specials.

Did we mention the ribs?

Chip's Old Fashioned Hamburgers Now that Chip's has two locations, you've got two choices for your burger-themed Super Bowl Sunday. The new spot on La Vista is business as usual with burgers, wings, and an impressive local beer selection. Over at the Lovers Lane location they'll offer the same but in family blow-out style.

Expect free apps and an obstacle course for the kids complete with an I-can-jump-as-high-as-Richard-Sherman bounce house.

BonChon This place was made for Super Bowl Sunday, and enjoying yourself is easy here. Grab a large order of spicy wings and a pitcher or seven and casually snack the entire game away. The wings at your favorite sports bar will never taste the same again.

Lakewood Landing The Landing may be one of the best places to watch the game simply because they plan on ignoring it. There are no covers, no specials and likely no crowds to navigate. Grab a seat at the bar, or one of the well worn booths if you're feeling cozy. It will be just like watching the game in your own living room, except someone else will handle the beer and food.

Outpost American Tavern Outpost has enough TVs to make sure everyone has a view of the action, but not so many that the bar room is a draw for bookies. And now that chef Tim Byres from Smoke has taken over the kitchen you can look forward to an exciting new menu. Start with the Sriracha wings, move the chains with the pepper steak with gravy, and drive it home with even more wings. You may not remember who won the game a few months from now, but you'll remember how well you ate.
