Lake Highlands Creamery

It wasn't too long ago that Lake Highlands Creamery was one of Dallas' tiniest ice cream shops, operating out of a rented kitchen space and selling over-the-top ice cream bars to Luscher's Red Hots. Owner Sean Brockette also took orders through his website and hit up the occasional farmers market, selling his products at a number of pop-up shops.

Now, just a few months after the first Mother Lode landed — that's a sort of everything-on-a-stick ice cream bar — Brockette has announced his Lake Highland Creamery has obtained a permanent address. He doesn't have an opening date yet, but the shop will be located on Audelia Road and Walnut Hill Lane in the Lakeridge Shopping Center.

When he does open, expect some innovative frozen treats including those ice cream bars pictured above. The green one is filled with blue raspberry and marshmallow, and the orange number harkens back to the classic orange Dreamsicle. Their Facebook page is littered with plenty of other creations, including a Key lime pie ice cream bar that's dusted in graham cracker crumble, salted caramel and cake batter for those of you who miss your spoon-licking days.

The Lakeridge Shopping Center is also home to Atomic Pie, which incidentally has carried Lakewood Creamery products over previous weekends. In addition to strawberry ice cream bars dipped in chocolate, the pizzeria carried pints of several flavors.

Brockette is still working on permits and preparing for construction, so it may be a while before the shop opens. In the meantime, check out their website for information about other pop-up events.
