Lover's Lane Olive Oil Company opened over the weekend, an expansion from its mothership store, Grapevine Olive Oil Company. It's at 5627 West Lovers Lane, just west of the Tollway.
Owner Rebecca Knop imports more than 40 extra-virgin olive oils from around the world and balsamic vinegars from Modena, Italy, all of which are served in bulk style urns with taps, which makes for easy sampling.
Knop also provides customers with detailed information about each oil and, more importantly, food pairings. Flavors include things like cilantro-roasted onion, lemon, Persian lime, wild mushroom and sage.
In addition to the oils, there's also Spice Girl Lola Miller, who cut her teeth at the Cordon Bleu culinary school and has brought in her own collection of from-scratch blends, rubs, whole spices, specialty sugars and salts.
"I grind most of the spices here to enhance their flavor and make sure they're fresh," Miller says. "We'll also help customers pair rubs with oils, if they'd like. And the spices are all sold by weight so you can buy just what you need."
For the trifecta, Miller and Knop will pair oil, balsamic vinegar and spices for any range of meals you're planning.
