Parkit Market Celebrates 50-Years with BOGO Sandwiches and Free Ice and Cups with Keg Rental

Frank and Ann Todora originally opened their small family-run store and deli, Parkit Market, on Greenville Avenue in 1962. At the time, Central Expressway was a dirt road and the store was surrounded by pastures and cows.

This year marks 50 revolutions around the sun for Parkit Market, and despite the obvious changes in the vicinity of the store, not much has changed inside. The same family still runs things daily, and they carry basics to get you by in a pinch, and plenty of things to snack on.

Parkit has garnered quite a reputation for its keg rental business, something son Tony Todora picked up on when he was a student at SMU. Now they carry more than 830 varieties of beer, including locals like Deep Ellum Brewing Company, Franconia, Peticolas and Rahr, plus a bevy of IPA's, imports, hard to find, seasonal and limited release kegs.

The small deli at the back of Parkit makes fresh home-style sandwiches for breakfast and lunch. They also have a pretty decent wine collection and a liquor store one door down. Previously, Alice Laussade had a tasty chopped beef and paired it with vodka from next door, which, she said, "totally gave me that straight-from-Mom warm fuzzy."

To celebrate their five-decade mark, Parkit Market is doing a buy-one, get-one free promotion on all their deli sandwiches. And, if you're more thirsty then hungry, kegs ordered and picked up this week will receive free ice and cups with the purchase. Just be sure to wish the Todoras "happy anniversary" when ordering.
