This week, we're doing happy hour neighborhood restaurant-style at Sushi Star.

Where: 5956 Royal Lane When: 4 p.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Friday The Scene: This is Preston Hollow's quiet neighborhood sushi restaurant, and the happy hour crowd consists of SMU summer school kids, teenagers (summer time means school is out for the kiddos), families and basically anyone else in the area who recognizes a good deal when they see one. Happy hour-priced dishes are served throughout the restaurant. The Deal: Gigantic sushi rolls in the $4-5 range include shrimp tempura rolls, salmon avocado roll, Philadelphia roll and veggie just to name a few. There's also a $5 appetizer meal that lists potstickers and chicken yakitori among the bargains. Eat: The light and crispy calamari. Lushworthy: $2 hot sake.

Bottom Line: If you're in the area, stop by for the neighborhood restaurant vibe, complete with a nice, laid-back crowd and sushi bar conversations with the restaurant's owner Song Wii.
