As you've probably heard by now, the Alamo Drafthouse has recently opened in Richardson. In addition to new releases, the offbeat Austin-based theater specializes in cult classics, sing-alongs (like Grease in a couple of weeks) and random things like an Animal House toga party (next week). Part of the shtick is that customers can also eat and drink while enjoying a film, but under no circumstances should one even consider fidgeting with a cell phone.

The Glass Half Full Taproom is a watering hole at the theater that is open to all patrons, regardless of whether they are there to see a movie -- or for those who are expecting an important call and simply can't afford to silence their phone. The full-service lounge and patio has both nibs and drinks to keep you occupied.

Glass Half Full will celebrate themes of recent releases. For The World's End, the bar has 12 pints of British ale on tap along with fish and chips with a chorizo Scotch egg, a Ploughman's grilled cheese and a "three flavours trilogy sundae." And, yes, flavour with a "u" does taste different.

The menu for the taproom is pretty extensive at seven pages, three of which are strictly booze. Naturally, they offer bottomless popcorn. Other starters and snacks include hot wings, a white bean hummus and Hatch green chile queso blanco. Burgers are made with half a pound of 100 percent Angus chuck burgers, and come in a variety of styles like a Royale with cheese, spicy blue cheese, prosciutto and goat cheese or avocado and pesto. There are salads and wraps, pizzas and adult shakes (party tip: the Mexican chocolate shake is made with reposado tequila, chocolate and cinnamon).

The wine, beer and classic cocktail list is all of three pages and includes about 20 local and regional craft breweries, eight from the North Texas area. Plus there's a rotating menu of seasonal beers and "Weird and Wonderful" like Boulevard Tank 7 Farmhouse Ale, Breckenridge Agave Wheat, Magic Hat #9 and Pyramid Apricot Ale.

In all, the lounge and patio offers 32 craft beers on tap, in addition to bottles and cask-conditioned ales. They have happy hour specials from 4 to 7 p.m., and you should watch their Facebook page for special events.
