Meat Fight is an annual celebration of meat, meat, and meat that raises money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS). The event started just three years ago as a back yard barbecue, then graduated to a bigger space that would allow for more meat for more meatheads last year. Just three years out, with an exclusive collection of some of the best brisket in North Texas along with off-the-wall meat-centric sideshows and Nick Offerman, the friendly competition and tasting has become one of the hottest tickets in town.

Hans Muller of the Swiss Pastry Shop in Fort Worth is one of the many local restauants taking part in Meat Fight. Last week he introduced a special Meat Fight Burger made with half a pound of Local Yocal Wagyu beef, grilled pork belly, sharp white cheddar and pickled red onions. For every burger sold $5 goes to NMSS.

The Swiss Pastry Shop, which is part-bakery and part-restaurant, is a Fort Worth institution famous for its legendary from-scratch black forest cake. But, don't just peruse the pastry case, the menu is thick with plates of sausages, sandwiches, soups, burgers; plus a wurst plate (bratwurst, knackwurst and polish). And they have Luscher's Post Oak Red Hots with pickles, onions, and sport peppers on a poppy seed bun.

The Swiss Pastry Shop at 3936 West Vickery is open for breakfast and lunch from 6 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The Meat Fight Burger along with a side is $15, with $5 going to MS and is on sell through the end of October.
