A Santeria Feast Day in Euless

1 of 12

Though Santeria is an Afro-Cuban religion practiced by one to five million people in the US, some Euless residents were shocked to learn it was being practiced in their neighborhood -- especially its animal sacrifices. A long legal battle ensued, which brought new details of the religion to light. (Read in our cover story "Blood Offering.") These photographs show the day after 40 animals were sacrificed to the Santeria gods. The animals have been cooked and prepared, and today is a day of celebration and feast.
