Varekai: A Feast for the Imagination

Varekai: A Feast for the Imagination

Cirque du Soleil’s traveling show Varekai opened to audiences at the Fort Worth Convention Center on Wednesday, Dec. 13.

Retelling the Greek mythological story of Icarus, who flew too close to the sun escaping Crete only to plummet to his death in the oceans below, Varekai picks up after Icarus’ fall instead into a magical forest where he befriends strange creatures and finds love.

The show, which first opened in 2002, will come to a 15-year close in Frisco this year where it will be showing at Dr. Pepper Arena from Dec. 20-23. Photos by Brian Maschino
