10 Awesome Things To Do This Weekend: June 21 to 24

Friday 6.21 Marc Ryan -- Crack a few beers with fellow Texan funnyman Marc Ryan this weekend at Hyena's. He leans on Southern topics without resting on hard cliches. You will spit laugh.

Jo. Yon Fashion Show -- This rooftop bash is a great excuse to perch with a few cocktails, look out over the city and gawk at fun new fashions.

Saturday 6.22

WET at FOE -- You don't need another reason to visit the F.O.E., but today you get a whole mess of 'em. DJs, karaoke, and a dance party? In.

Big Art Opening Night on Dragon Street -- These are the best evenings in Dallas, says me. This neighborhood of eclectic galleries works together and has their openings on the same night; for you that means sprinting from gallery to gallery, chugging wine and learning about fascinating new artists.

Grand Re-Opening of Smoke and Mirrors Gallery -- Here's the deal, guys: Smoke and Mirrors is a gem. This former Dolly Python neighbor supports outsider, primitive, underbelly art by our local favorites, but recently it closed. Our hearts broke. Now, it's reopening at 406 Art Space on S. Haskell and the celebratory bash is going to be off, like, 50 chains. There's artwork by 10 to 15 great artists and a set by DJ Hammertimez. Also, booze. It goes late, so do Dragon Street then close the night here. (There's a tiny cover if you arrive after 8, so bring some cash. All artwork costs less than $100 bucks.)

KEEP THE DALLAS OBSERVER FREE... Since we started the Dallas Observer, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Dallas, and we'd like to keep it that way.
