B.A.D. In Oak Cliff

The heart of Dallas crossed the river over the past couple of years as Oak Cliff has been revitalized, and the Bishop Arts District's First Thursday block party takes its job as welcome wagon seriously. On the first Thursday of every month, the shops, galleries and restaurants of Bishop Arts stay open until 10 p.m. to entertain everyone before the weekend kicks off, with special features every month. This month, check out the gallery opening at Charley Mitcherson's studio (405 North Bishop Avenue) for local photographer Charley Mitcherson and local painter Dudley Sanders. The exhibit opens Thursday night at 7 p.m. and will be on display Fridays and Saturdays through September. Admission is free. Call 214-941-4391 or visit bishopartsdistrict.com.

KEEP THE DALLAS OBSERVER FREE... Since we started the Dallas Observer, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Dallas, and we'd like to keep it that way. With local media under siege, it's more important than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" program, allowing us to keep offering readers access to our incisive coverage of local news, food and culture with no paywalls.
