Canadian Power

When I was in eighth grade, I hung out with a group who did nothing but talk about music. We all had opinions. Some would spend hours arguing about whether Randy Rhoads was better than Eddie Van Halen. Heated discussions arose on the subject of who would win in a fistfight between Black Flag and Dokken. There was one consensus: All Canadian bands suck. There was a talent-sucking forcefield covering the entire country. Some blamed the weather. One kid said it was because Canadians were all "fake French." I now know that our "theories" were flawed. Canada does produce great musicians: Triumph, Rush, Corey Hart. You can test this theory for yourself when Canadian megasuperstar Celine Dion plays the American Airlines Center 8 p.m. Monday. Call 214-373-8000 or visit americanairlinescenter.com for info. It's no Rush show, but it'll do.
