Debbie Does Dallas

What happens when you combine Dancing with the Stars, American Idol and Singin' in the Rain? Other than a potential hot mess, you get a legend against a backdrop of trendy reality television. Debbie Reynolds (yes, the Debbie Reynolds) hosts a one-night-only show of Simply Ballroom with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. No, this isn't the stage version of the Australian flick that started director Baz Luhrmann's career. That would have just been too much. Touted as the event "where music and dance come alive," Reynolds will lead the audience through a night of rumbas, salsa, tangos and good old-fashioned ballroom dancing performed by dance champions. She'll also host Idol finalists Kimberley Locke and Vonzell Solomon as they sing with the DSO. Simply Ballroom starts at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Meyerson Symphony Center, 2301 Flora St. Tickets are $35 to $85. Call 214-692-0203 or visit DallasSymphony.com for additional information.
