Double Exposure

Synergy is the name of the game at Friday’s Artful Musings event at the Dallas Museum of Art (1717 N. Harwood St.), as photographer Nic Nicosia and novelist Philipp Meyer talk influence and inspiration. Dallas-born Nicosia’s new book, simply titled Nic Nicosia, is a definitive collection of three decades of photographs, many of which are staged like plays, the “actors” often involved in sinister or surreal acts in suburban or domestic spaces. The book also features new fiction by Philipp Meyer, author of 2009’s American Rust and 2011’s The Son, whose short story was inspired by a Nicosia photo. The two will be joined by Sue Graze of Austin’s Arthouse and Menil Collection curator Michelle White. The event starts at 7:30 p.m., and tickets are $35 or $15 for students.
