Support the independent voice of Dallas and help keep the future of Dallas Observer free.

Sometimes the draw of a culture convention is the costumes, or sharing an experience with like-minded fans. Sometimes it’s even going to educational panels and learning something new. In this case, it’s a perfect storm of smoldering celebrity panels, more smoldering and a ... dance party (fans may also enjoy commemorative smoldering via signed head shots, but it’s hard to say for sure). The Vampire Diaries Official Convention is sinking its teeth into Dallas for the weekend, this Saturday and Sunday at the Westin Dallas Fort Worth Airport. Tickets (starting at $40) will guarantee you a seat in proximity to Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder (both appearing Sunday), and eight other stars (Michael Trevino, Steven R. McQueen, Arielle Kebbel, and others) from the hit CW series. A cosplay contest and trivia games will help to keep fans’ TVD thirst quenched between star sightings. Keep the Dallas Observer Free... Since we started the Dallas Observer, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Dallas, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Dallas with no paywalls.
