Free Comic Book Day Happens Saturday, Judge Reinhold Will Be in Plano

Don your capes, strap on your superhero boots and head to a local comic book store to dig your way through the quarter comics and pick up a few freebies at Free Comic Book Day. The first Saturday in May is probably the only Stan Lee- endorsed holiday on the normal calendar, until one of his comics get its own day. Oh, wait, Google tells me that recently August 1st was declared National Spiderman Day. Anyway.

Nearly all of the local shops will be celebrating Saturday with comic book giveaways, professional cosplayers, and special guests. We've compiled a full list of where the festivities will take place.

Madness Games and Comics Hours: 9 a.m. - midnight 3000 Custer Road St. #310, Plano The big draw here is Judge Reinhold, who made his first on-screen appearance in an episode of Wonder Woman in 1979. He'll be in the shop from 10 a.m. -3 p.m. Saturday, signing autographs. Another special guest will be Mark Dodson, the voice of Salacious B. Crumb and Jabba the Hutt.

Wild West Comics Arlington Hours: 12- 8 p.m. 1215 S. Cooper St., Arlington There will be free comics (obviously), professional cosplayers, local artists and they're hosting a canned food drive. Bring canned food, receive additional free comics.

Zeus Comics and Collectibles Hours: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. 1334 Inwood Rd., Dallas They're bringing back the Quarter Comic Sale, in addition to the 7,000 comics they have to give away. Special guests include Mike Norton (Battlepug), Joelle Jones (Helhiem), Jamie S. Rich (It Girl and the Atomics) and more.

Keith's Comics Hours: 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. 5400 E. Mockingbird #120, Dallas Each visitor can pick up to three free comics, while supplies last. From 1 - 4 p.m. special guests include Super Girl, Zatanna, Green Power Ranger, Princess Amidala. Plus, the Internet talk show Fangirls: Dames of the Round Table records onsite at 1 p.m.

Awesome Comics Hours: 12- 7 p.m. 8420 Abrams Rd. #202 Dallas This is your pretty run-of-the-mill Free Comic Book Day. Expect fellow nerds and giveaways.

Titan Comics Hours: 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. 3128 Forest Ln #212, Dallas Free comic books. Local Artists. Free face painting from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Urban Legends Comics Hours: 11 a.m.- 8 p.m. 3501 Gus Thomasson Rd #51, Mesquite
