Finally, an art gallery is bringing us an exhibit that attempts to answer the much-pondered foodie question, "Are we the masters of the table, or is food seducing us?" Thank you, McKinney Avenue Contemporary! You can't imagine how many times I've sat down to dinner and eyed my meal suspiciously, wondering, is that lasagna giving me 'the look'? Is that potato salad thinking what I think that potato salad's thinking? How DARE that cake insinuate such things? Through August 31, you can check out the 14th Annual Membership Exhibition: Gastronomia / erotica y estimulante at the MAC, 3120 McKinney Avenue. Member artists have contributed a variety of works--including visual art, performance art and literary readings--that hope to capture the "erotic power that food brings to human existence." Daaaang. Now that's what I call a hot plate. Admission is free at the MAC, but there is a suggested donation of $5 for adults and $4 for students and seniors. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays. For more information, call 214-953-1212 or go to the-mac.org.
Wednesdays-Saturdays. Starts: Aug. 2. Continues through Aug. 31, 2008
