Tensions between the US and the Australian entertainment industry have been a little mixed since we refused to accept Yahoo Serious as a movie star. It's a shame because Australia is full of some very funny people who deserve a shot at the big time in the States. Wil Anderson is one of Australia's most famous and funniest names where he hosts several popular shows including the comedy panel show "The Gruen Transfer" and hosts a popular podcast called "TOFOP (30 Odd Foot of Pod)". He's also slowly creeping his way into America's comedy consciousness on shows like E!'s "Chelsea Lately." He also has a sharp eye that can slice through just about any topic whether it's political, popular or observational. He'll perform four shows at Hyena's Comedy Nightclub (5321 E. Mockingbird Ln.) at 8 and 10:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Tickets are available at Hyenascomedynightclub.com.
Fri., Nov. 14, 8 p.m.; Sat., Nov. 15, 8 p.m., 2014

Keep the Dallas Observer Free... Since we started the Dallas Observer, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Dallas, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Dallas with no paywalls.
