Get uncomfortably close to the canvas at Circuit 12 tonight, I dare you. Really smell its breath, artistically speaking. The group show is a challenge, one that challenges its work's creators to roughhouse with juxtaposition. Surface Pattern calls form, color and line into question, abstractly altering each just enough to shake up your visual mainframe. This world is familiar, but not one you've visited before, so take it all in tonight from 6 to 10 p.m. at Circuit 12 Contemporary (1130 Dragon Street, #150). If you haven't skedaddled over to Ro2 Art Downtown this month to see its newest three-part offering, Solvent, today is a great day to correct that. A full-frontal assault of collaboration, the Solvent Collective has been taking turns installing art, often for 11 hours a-pop, all month long. The result is a shape-shifting environment with new artists and arrangements developing every two weeks. See the latest iteration from 7 to 10 p.m. this evening at 110 N. Akard Street. Tour the world with Jackie Tileston's canvases this evening at Holly Johnson Gallery. This globe-trotting artist draws inspiration from French wallpaper, Chinese landscape painting and historical panoramas, then melds them together with contemporary structural elements. The result is at times both dreamy and hyper, but always quite beautiful. See her new show Freefall tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at Holly Johnson (1411 Dragon Street).
