Get To Know Klyde Warren. He's A Fun Guy.

As you sat on Woodall Rodgers over the past few years, staring at taillights, you wondered about Klyde Warren Park. What would it look like? When would you be able to access the Tollway again? Would there be food trucks? The answers are nigh, my friends, because said park opens with a giant celebration this weekend. We’ll have to get back with you on the Tollway-access situation, but be assured, food trucks are a go, as are a litany of family-friendly activities on Saturday and Sunday, starting at 10 a.m. with tai chi and yoga. Sunday goers will see performances from the Dallas Opera, the Dallas Black Dance Theatre, the Anita Martinez Ballet Folklorico, Texas Ballet Theater, Booker T. Dancers and more. Teach your pup some manners at a free dog-training session around 1 p.m., then shuffle the kids off to story time at 2. If you feel the need to wander off-site a bit, there are tons of offerings in the Arts District including a free artist lecture at the Nasher (2001 Flora St.) from Matthew Clark and VideoFest director Bart Weiss, who will discuss the concept of casting as it relates to art; or the Art in October Grand Finale at the Crow Collection of Asian Art (2010 Flora St.), which has Asian candy for the kids and fun origami projects. The Klyde Warren Park is located between Pearl and St. Paul over the Woodall Rodgers Freeway. Visit for more information, including parking directions.
