Get Your Cowboy Out of My Alien

Escape the brutal Texas sun this weekend and take your ears and imagination to a galaxy not so far, far away. On Saturday the Metropolitan Winds present a free concert composed of some of film’s most time-honored movie themes: cowboys and aliens. The concert will be held in the cavernous and cool Meyerson Symphony Center at 2 p.m. and will feature music by John Williams, Bruce Broughton, Aaron Copland, and more. No ticket or RSVP is needed. Just head to the arts district, grab a seat, close your eyes and soar through melodies from Lost In Space, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Star Wars, Tombstone, Close Encounters of The Third Kind and others and picture familiar images of leathery skin, dusty boots, and intergalactic adventures.
