Gettin' Wiggly With It

Let's play a little game of six degrees of separation, shall we? I bet I can connect kleptomaniac, sorry, I mean actress Winona Ryder to our beloved Mr. Wiggle Worm, the sidekick of Mr. Peppermint. In the early '90s, Ryder was engaged to heartthrob loner, Johnny Depp, for a long period of time. In 1993, Johnny Depp produced a short documentary on John Frusciante's house with the help of the lead singer of The Butthole Surfers, Gibby Haynes. Our man Gibby just happens to be the son of Jerry Haynes. Who's Jerry Haynes? He would be the man who plays Mr. Peppermint in the Dallas-based kids show. And who is his sidekick? Mr. Wiggle Worm. And done! OK, maybe not exactly six degrees, but pretty damn close. Our point is that even worms can be exciting. This Saturday, Texas Discovery Gardens, 3601 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., hosts an Earthworm Extravaganza from 11 a.m. to noon. During this time you will learn about the subterranean explorers and how they help plant life grow. You will even get a chance to hunt for earthworms. The especially industrious could, we suppose, produce a documentary about their tunnels. For more information, call 214-428-7476.
