Support the independent voice of Dallas and help keep the future of Dallas Observer free.
File this under "Positively Charming."
Texas Theatre shows Wes Anderson's The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou Saturday night, and in proper Texas Theatre style they've filmed a mock doc promo teaser. From the miniature architectural model to the Candy Dungeon, it's extremely satisfying. (Especially with The Midnight Coterie of Sinister Intruders stalled indefinitely in post-production.)
Saturday doubles as a an art auction and birthday party for bartender/dollface/pants-charmer-off-er, Susie Sue. Auction proceeds fund two great causes: Dallas street dog rescue group Duck Team 6 (a favorite non-profit of the birthday girl), and Sue's own stack of medical payments. A major back surgery has kept her from professionally spreading joy since March 2013. Susie Sue is a local treasure, so show up and pitch in. Here's the details.
Keep the Dallas Observer Free... Since we started the Dallas Observer, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Dallas, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Dallas with no paywalls.
