If you are looking for a fun, family-friendly holiday activity that doesn’t employ the same old neighborhoods full of lackluster Christmas light displays, then look no further than Dallas Heritage Village, 1515 South Harwood St. This year, the village celebrates its 40th year of old Texas culture, traditions and customs as displayed in their annual Christmas exhibition. Alongside the usual live entertainment, historic buildings and characters dressed to look the part, this year’s event will feature food trucks that will provide various ethnic and local fare as well as libations from Deep Ellum’s own Calais Winery. If you're not sure your little ones will be enthralled, the village offers crafts plus hay and donkey rides for them at this holiday fete. Tickets range from $8-$12 and can be purchased online at DallasHeritageVillage.org.
Tuesdays-Saturdays, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; Sundays, 12-4 p.m. Starts: Dec. 10. Continues through Dec. 31, 2011
