Hot As Blazes

The 11th annual Blazing Saddles Duathlon is almost upon us. For most of us the words "Blazing Saddles" conjure up images of a group of cowboys eating buckets of baked beans and cracking off farts around a campfire. So what in the wide, wide world of sports is a-goin' on here? Well, apparently now Blazing Saddles has more to do with serious athletes and bicyclists like Lance Armstrong than it does with silly cowboys like Slim Pickens. The duathlon and duathlon relay involve a 2-mile run, a 9.3-mile bike and another 2-mile run. There's also a 5K run/walk taking place concurrently. So if you've got the runs head to the Bath House Cultural Center parking lot at White Rock Lake at 7:30 a.m. Sunday. For more information or to register for the race call 214-821-0909 or visit
