Hot For Housewares

As we age, our tastes change. While the eau de vinyl records and Pearl Light beer used to really get us charged up, these days we get excited about bathroom fixtures, great curtains and stainless steel appliances. Ah, to be a grownup. No longer tempted by rows of freshly minted music and not-so-freshly minted booze, we grownups long to finger faucets and get up close and personal with a really great Berber carpet. If you're in our boat too, prepare to have a proper, grown-up fit: The Dallas Home Show is here, and it has all the cooking demos, décor ideas and lawn designs you could want. The show runs Friday through Sunday at the Dallas Convention Center, 650 S. Griffin St. Hours are 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $8, kids under 12 are free. Visit texashomeandgarden.com.
Fri., Jan. 12, 2-8 p.m.; Sat., Jan. 13, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; Sun., Jan. 14, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
KEEP THE DALLAS OBSERVER FREE... Since we started the Dallas Observer, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Dallas, and we'd like to keep it that way. With local media under siege, it's more important than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" program, allowing us to keep offering readers access to our incisive coverage of local news, food and culture with no paywalls.
