Hot Links

Once again, the Man deals a blow to the homeless population of downtown. While more green spaces would make the area more habitable and inviting, more golf courses downtown would not—no matter how green and, in this case, indoors, scaled-down and air-conditioned they are. It's like setting up a big sign that says, "Hey, here's a nice, thoughtfully landscaped place to sit down, and it's populated by people with a fair amount of spare change in their pockets—but you can't come because you spent money you could have used buying a set of golf clubs on food!" The Glenlivet City Links course is open weekdays from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. through February 3 at 1201 Main St., Second Floor. Green fees are "pay as you will" and are donated to Direct Relief International to benefit Hurricane Katrina victims. Visit www.glenlivetcitylinks.com.
Mondays-Fridays, 11:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Starts: Jan. 24. Continues through Feb. 3
