Charles Cramer says that the first time he held an Ansel Adams print in his hands the colors were so vibrant that he felt as though he needed shades. It was a revelatory moment for the pianist-turned-photographer who shoots his own resplendent landscapes, and you can get a taste of their fiery luster through the upcoming exhibition Charles Cramer: Illuminated Prints at Sun to Moon Gallery, 1515 Levee St. Inspired by the natural luminescence of gilded autumn foliage, the intricate patterns of grass floating on glassy streams and the violet shadows highlighting crevices of red rock canyons, Cramer does not rely on mere natural clichés, but instead finds unexpected and unusual textures and patterns, capturing the world at its most unpredictably empyrean refulgence. Join Cramer for an opening reception at Sun to Moon Gallery on January 14 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., or catch the exhibition on Thursdays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. between January 12 and February 11. Call 214-745-1199 or visit suntomoon.com for more details.
Thursdays-Saturdays, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Starts: Jan. 14. Continues through Feb. 11, 2012
