This paper's own Jesse Hyde researched such an example when countless believers flocked to see the Virgen de Guadalupe in an Oak Cliff tree ("Do You See What I See?," December 29, 2005). Chicana artist Santa Barraza presents mythic figures and icons so important to many in her vivid exhibition Santa Barraza: La Mano Poderosa, opening with a reception at 5:30 p.m. at the Latino Cultural Center, 2600 Live Oak St. The show runs through April 1.
