New York-based dance companies are a dime a dozen. They seem to pop up all the time ready to give you the ballet, jazz, and experimental dance you desire. Sometimes those dance companies get a special grant that allows them to tour, and those choreographers start establishing themselves as a force to be reckoned with (or at least they can write that down in their press releases). But the Brian Brooks Dance Company might actually be able to claim that fame when they make their Texas debut at the Dallas City Performance Hall. Brooks was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2013, the company has toured internationally since 2002, and reviews have said the work is innovative and risky. We’ll see if it’s true when they come to the Big D. See the show at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, November 22 at 2520 Flora St. Tickets are $25-$75 and available at attpac.org.
Fri., Nov. 21, 8 p.m.; Sat., Nov. 22, 8 p.m., 2014
