Now that the new year is underway, it is time for you to really start working on all of those resolutions. Yes, that's right, the smoke has cleared, the confetti has been swept up and you may have even kicked that colossal hangover by now. Get to work! Get out your list and check off "read more books" and "meet interesting people" by joining acclaimed Texas young adult author and former Dallas Morning News columnist Ruth Pennebaker, as she reads from and signs copies of her debut novel for adults: Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakthrough. The book, about three generations of women living through tough times under one roof, has critics singing Pennebaker's praises. Celebrate her in person 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Allie-Coosh boutique, 6726 Snider Plaza. For more information, call 214-363-8616 or visit allie-coosh.com.
Wed., Jan. 12, 7 p.m., 2011
