When we go to Texas Ranger games, we typically sit in seats that are the same price as our parking spot. At that distance, there's no reasonable fear of being struck by a bulleted line drive, but with the Rangers' batting, it's possible. We bring our old baseball glove for protection just in case, but we notice that most fans, unwisely, do not. Not officially announced as a security measure for Sunday's game, the first 10,000 children under age 13 get a red or blue baseball glove. We don't know of any reported injuries, but it's clear that the promotion is for children's safety. The three-game series against the Mets begins Friday at 7:05 p.m. Following Saturday's 3:10 p.m. game, enjoy a Robert Earl Keen concert. Sunday's matinee begins at 2:05 p.m. Ticket prices vary between $8 (our seats) and $189. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 972-RANGERS or visit texasrangers.com.
