Going to Mockingbird Station is always a joy, whether you're idling behind a soccer mom in a $70,000 gas-guzzler while she loads up her four screaming reasons for not getting divorced, or buying IKEA-quality furniture at twice the price from West Elm. OK, it's not so bad--the Angelika is more than satisfactory, and we'll be damned if that Cold Stone Creamery isn't rather delicious. And this week, there's a new addition to the non-sucky parts of the 'Stayshe, as the cool kids call it: a Hyena's Comedy Club. Yes, the same Hyena's that operates in Arlington and Fort Worth is bringing the funny to Dallas to compete with the city's other excellent clubs, the Backdoor Comedy Club and the Addison Improv. Will Dallas become a capital of comedy? It will if you quit being lame and support good, local live comedy instead of Netflixing Dane Cook every weekend. Hyena's Dallas' opening weekend, this Thursday through Saturday, features headliner Tommy Blaze. Showtimes are 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. nightly, and tickets are $10 to $15.
