Midnight at the Round Table

Now a staple of weekend entertainment in Dallas, most people go to midnight movies at the Inwood to relive the magic of seeing the movies for the first time. Personally, though, I go for the educational value—not from the movie itself, but from the trivia contest that precedes it. At a recent contest, I learned that the state with the highest number of post-operative transsexuals is Colorado. I also learned that there are people who seem to have memorized the results of every movie awards show of the past 10 years. Those people usually stand at the front and ask the questions. Most importantly, though, I learned that the upcoming screening of Monty Python and the Holy Grail is a brand new 35mm print containing an additional 24 seconds of material edited from the original theatrical release and a remastered soundtrack. Fortunately, the additional footage involves Castle Anthrax and not the annoying "Ni" knights. In case you want to take part in the trivia contest, the first answer is roughly 11 meters per second or 24 miles an hour and the second is no, a 5 ounce bird cannot carry a one pound coconut. Monty Python and the Holy Grail shows at midnight Friday and Saturday at the Inwood Theatre, 5458 W. Lovers Lane. Tickets are $8.50. Call 214-764-9106 or visit landmarktheatres.com.
