Go green. Be good to the earth. The message is everywhere but, aside from recycling, it's often associated with cleaning products, architectural or utility choices and other adult stuff that the whole family can't really get excited about. The Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Conservatory decided to make "green" equal "fun" for the weekend with the Green Living Family Festival. Families can learn about and purchase eco-friendly products, sure, but they can also learn about animals that need conservation help, enjoy a petting zoo, hear live music, hike trails, learn about how waste affects the earth, check out an "eco-sensitive" fashion show and more that will make learning about going green fun
and more important, show what and who will be helped in the process. Festival hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday with a discounted admission of $5 (members and kids 12 and younger admitted for free). The Heard is located at 1 Nature Place in McKinney. Call 972-562-5566 or visit heardmuseum.org.
