No ifs, ands or buts about it: cancer blows. We don’t know whether it’s because we’re getting older or the world’s just getting suckier, but it seems more prevalent than ever. And while it’s easy to stress, worry and fear the blight that is taking our loved ones, sometimes what we need more than a consoling hug is some good old rock and roll. This is where Thrillogy steps in, because they’ve gathered their roster of tribute bands to amuse and entertain us this weekend for the second annual Rock Out Against Cancer concert and auction. Featuring The Mullet Boyz, Vegas Stars, Hip Hop Hooray and Seattle, the concert honors late band member Jason Wheelington (who lost his battle with cancer in 2011), with all proceeds from the event going to the American Cancer Society. The rock begins at 7 p.m. Sunday at Sandbar Cantina, 317 S. 2nd Ave. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door. For more information, visit rockoutagainstcancer.eventbrite.com.
