My two least favorite things behind spiders and being on fire are running and being cold. And I believe that there is no reason to run unless youre avoiding spiders or fire or being cold. So I'll need to change my tune before the White Rock Marathon this Sunday. Officials have moved the annual race to Fair Park to make room for the more than 20,000 participants running to benefit Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. My roommate trained for the race for the past five months and then forgot to register--doh! So he'll be alongside you and the other clusters of enthusiastic Dallasites cheering on the runners as they make their way through the 26.2 mile course around Fair Park. Unfortunately for the rest of us--i.e. the sane ones--the half-marathon, 5-person relay and corporate relay have already filled up, but there's still space left in the full marathon. Registration for the marathon is $150 through Saturday. And if you can't register or find your running shoes in time, there's no shame in settling for some sideline cheering.
