An English playwright who wasn't Shakespeare once wrote "all's fair in love and war," but a French guy deserves credit for taking it to extremes. Psychological warfare outweighs true love in Cruel Intentions, the decade-old movie adapted for the stage by the Collin Theatre Center. The story--based on a scandalous 18th century French novel--revolves around sexy Sebastian and sociopathic Kathryn, rich and bored stepsiblings who ruin other people's lives for fun. Sebastian wagers his sweet Jaguar that he can seduce a virgin, his prize being a romp with Kathryn if he succeeds. Yeah, double ew. The teenage telenovela reaches a hormonal crescendo when the bet backfires. Blame it on a dirty four-letter word: L-O-V-E. Those crazy kids. Performances begin 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday at the Black Box Theatre on the Spring Creek campus of Collin College (2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway), with matinees at 2:15 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. On Friday, the play will be performed in sign language for deaf patrons. Tickets are $8, $6 for students.
