The name of the MADI movement, which is the force behind the Museum of Geometric and MADI Art, 3109 Carlisle St., doesn't have definite origins. Some say it comes from the founder's name, CarMelo ArDen QuIn, but that looks a little too much like a 14-year-old's MySpace page for my tastes. The museum is hosting a Geometric Gala fundraiser 7 to 11 p.m. Friday, and get this: The attire is "festive cocktail" or "geometric costume." Please, please do the second one. Tickets are $60 in advance (or $70 at the door) and can be purchased by calling 214-855-7802. For more information about the museum, visit geometricmadimuseum.org.
