Shift Into Rock

You'd think Subaru would distance itself from anything rock 'n' roll-related for the rest of the company's existence after those disastrous commercials in 1993 wherein a compact car was likened to punk rock. But, it's been 16 years since that inadvertently hilarious ad--time enough to forgive, right? From 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Subaru of Plano (4480 W. Plano Parkway) offers Rock & Drive, with acoustic performances from locals The Hit, Page 9, Red Car Wire and Rescue Signals. Blood donors and bone-marrow registrants could win tickets to see Blink 182--a band that is kind of like punk rock. Visit for more info on the American Red Cross.
