Smokin' Gumshoe

The Pegasus Theater's black and white shows are a true Dallas tradition. For a while, I was going year after year to their small theater digs just outside of Deep Ellum, and then poof, they seemed to disappear. They ended up moving to Richardson but are definitely worth the drive. If you've never seen a Harry Hunsacker mystery, go. The audience is literally in the middle of an old detective movie or TV show. And dare I say you could mention Hunsacker in the same breath as Sam Spade or Perry Mason? I dare. His bumbling antics and desire to be an actor, however, always get in the way of his detecting. A Critical Case of Murder! previews at 8 p.m Friday and runs through January 28 at the Eisemann Center, 2351 Performance Drive. Call 972-744-4650 or visit
Thursdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sun., Dec. 31, 9 p.m.; Sundays, 3 p.m. Starts: Dec. 29. Continues through Jan. 28
