There's a lot of art that goes through the Kimbell (traveling exhibitions and whatnot) which forces the staff to cram a lot of the great stuff the museum owns—called the permanent collection—into the side room or basement or wherever it is they keep the art when it's not on display. So that's what makes the upcoming Masterpiece: A New Look at the Kimbell Collection so great. It's a chance to see Kimbell-owned works you may have never seen. The exhibition opens Sunday and runs through October 22. It includes Asian art, antiquities and European art, Pre-Columbian art and African art. All of the Kimbell's recent acquisitions (such as the ancient Greek Head of an Athlete sculpture) will also be on display. The Kimbell Art Museum is located at 3333 Camp Bowie Blvd. in Fort Worth. Admission is free. Call 817-332-8451 or visit kimbellart.org.
April 30-Oct. 22
