Chicago has given the world some great gifts, such as deep-dish pizza, Steve Albini and the Blues Brothers. It's also been home to some rather unfortunate events, like the Haymarket Riot, Al Capone's gangland battles and the Manhattan Project. And then there are those Windy City contributions that can be wonderful or God-awful, sometimes at the same time. Among those are house music, PitchforkMedia.com and The Second City improv troupe. Second City all but birthed modern improv comedy, for better or for worse, and many of the best comedians and actors in the world started there. Among its distinguished alumni are Alan Arkin, Fred Willard, Bill Murray, John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, Bob Odenkirk, Chris Farley and Stephen Colbert. On the other hand, you can thank the troupe for Andy Dick, James Belushi and Eugene Levy, whose only gag seems to be going cross-eyed every time he takes off his glasses. Whether they're good, bad or a little of both, you can catch tomorrow's comedy stars when the Second City Comedy Troupe performs tours its One Nation Under Blog 7 p.m. Sunday at the Granada Theater, 3524 Greenville Ave. in Dallas.
